Ken Cowen - CEO Expand Ken Cowen devised the School of Hard Knocks concept in 2007, and has been CEO of the charity since is creation in 2012. His background is predominantly in the creation and development of bespoke training solutions across a wide range of settings. He has worked in the private, public and charitable sectors and has a rich background in public speaking and communications.
Rosa Innes - Programmes Director, Scotland Expand Rosa has worked in training, facilitation, fundraising and events management for a number of charities in Scotland. She joined SOHK as Programmes Manager in March 2017 and is responsible for executing the charity's strategy north of the border. She’s a terrible rugby player but loves cycling and tennis.
Damian James - Programmes Director, Cymru Expand Damian joined the charity as an experienced leader within the Sport for Development Sector having held positions at Trustee and CEO level. Most recently Damian managed outdoor and surf therapy programmes for a large local authority and has worked across the health, education, and third sector implementing sport based interventions. He currently coaches his children’s mini rugby side and dreams of coming out of retirement.
Nathan Persaud - Programmes Director, England Expand Nathan Persaud is a trained sport psychology consultant with a background in sport for social change. Having also worked within education, he brings a unique knowledge of effective employability delivery and how to have maximum positive impact on a person’s behaviour.
Torran Macdougall - National Schools Manager Expand Torran has a degree in sports coaching and development, and is also a RFU Level 3 coach with a background in rugby coaching across a wide variety of levels and ages. This experience over the last 12 years has given him a well-rounded understanding of the game and how its values can impact others. Torran became involved with SOHK as a freelance coach in 2015 with the launch of the London Schools programme, and has had a huge impact on the charity ever since. He now works as National Schools Manager, overseeing the school programmes across the UK, which work with over 1200 young people per week. Torran continues to play and coach at his local rugby club Hertford RFC.
