This year’s SOHK (School Of Hard Knocks) annual rugby tournament was one for the books!

Hosted at the legendary Harrow School, the day was a fantastic mix of teamwork, resilience, and community spirit. SOHK and Harrow have been teaming up for years now, all thanks to a shared goal: using sport to help young people grow, both on and off the field.

Why Rugby?

Rugby’s not just a game; it’s a life lesson in disguise. At SOHK, we believe rugby teaches character, teamwork, and emotional resilience. It’s tough, intense and demands discipline – the perfect recipe for personal growth. With Harrow’s ongoing support, we can share these experiences with more young people every year, helping them build skills and confidence that go way beyond the pitch.

The 2024 Tournament Highlights

This year, the energy was electric! Over 250 boys from across London and Hertfordshire came together to play. And here’s the best part: Harrow’s own 1st XV players stepped up as mentors and referees. They didn’t just blow the whistle; they cheered, they guided, and ensured every young player felt supported.

We saw some incredible stories unfold – boys who faced challenges head-on and made huge strides in their confidence and skills.

Harrow's connection with SOHK began in 2017 with a combined U14/U15 team playing one Harrow side. 7 years later, it is so pleasing to see the festival flourish into matches for over 180 boys from the local area and beyond, to have support and sponsorship from Investec and to see it become a significant flagship event for SOHK and for our Shaftesbury Enterprise outreach programme. It is a pleasure for us to host, for our boys to be involved and to help with and to once again see so many happy faces, despite the cold, as we welcome back SOHK to Harrow School.
