Wednesday 13th May saw more than 275 SOHK participants at Broadwood Stadium in literal rain, hail and shine for our 4th annual SOHK Scotland Rugby Festival. The students aged 11-14 came from 9 of our 10 partner schools across the Central Belt, including Glasgow, Midlothian, and Edinburgh. Boys and girls were in the mix, and everyone’s energy was sky high!

Scotland’s Regional Manager Roisin said: “We were delighted with another successful end of year festival, and so proud to see the positive strides these groups have made with their rugby skills and to their commitment, teamwork, and resilience. A huge thanks to our delivery teams and to those that made the day possible.”

The day was kindly supported by partners Wellbread (who supplied lunches for a well-earned energy boost), referees from the Scottish Rugby Referee Society, volunteers from Wooden Spoon, and of course our hosts at Broadwood Stadium.

Not to mention the amazing generosity of Scottish Rugby for bringing the 2026 Scotland Team's Calcutta Cup along – this was a highlight for students and staff alike!

One teacher said about the event: “Today highlighted how strong relationships the staff have with the pupils. This programme has helped build them into being more confident and secure within themselves. For some pupils this was their first ever time playing contact rugby but also in a stadium. Without SOHK most of our kids would never experience this.”

To mark their progress and achievements on the day, all students received a SOHK kit and completion certificates, with additional recognition given to 'shining stars' who demonstrated exceptional leadership, teamwork, and resilience.
